The droughts in the 1930's brought record lows in precipitation in 12 states. The summer of 1934 was one of the worst summers bringing temperatures in Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois over one hundred degrees for such a long amount of time 370 people lost their lives. Droughts were consistant throughout the dust bowl in 1930-1931, 1934, 1936, and 1939-1940. The droughts were so bad they did not allow regions to recover before another one pestered them. Poor agricultural practices didn't do any good to the droughts as the droughts soon took America by storm, because of the droughts people were not able to make a living. The land was to dry and had no moisture, no far could make any money with such rugged land. The only place left to get away from the droughts was the west with it's almost perfect climate for crops.
